AMD has a tendency to 'press release' their recent CPUs. The 2400+ for example was anounced roughly 2 months ago, and has been made available to the public only few days ago. Based on this I would suspect that the 2800+ is still about a month off at least. I would not be able to speculate on pricing at the time of release - the competition (read Intel) is poised to release (and make available at same time) their 3.06 Ghz chip mid-November, so I am confident that AMD will be repositioning their pricing around that time.
